Voting Question: Hating College, Please Help?

3 September 2010, 8:09 am

K, So I'm an international student, and I just started my first semester at a college in NJ. So far, I hate it. Sure, I've made friends and the campus looks great, but I just hate it. It feels like if I stay here, I'm going to go nowhere. I chose this college so I could join the basketball team and play college basketbal which was always a dream of mine. But after coming over I've realised that when I decided to come here, my priorities weren't in order. Academically, this school doesn't even rank anywhere, it's not rating on the princeton review and when I mention that I go to this college to people in the surrounding towns, they tell me they've never even heard of it. Also, It's a suitcase school, everyone here is local and that's going to leave me here by myself alot of weekends, plus on campus, there isn't much to do and because I'm international, I don't have a license or a car. It's a legitimate college but I just know I could be somewhere waaaayyyy better. I don't want to spend a year here, let alone another week. So here's my question; Is it plausible to 'drop out' of college before I take any tests or do any assignments and leave with a blank record "as if none of this ever happened", and apply as a freshman to better colleges next year, after taking a year off, doing some night courses and travelling. I have the high school record to get into prestigious colleges, I just chose playing basketball over education (which I'm hating myself for now) Advice?? Thank you so much for your help....
